Cooper Phillip - Exceptional Feelings

If you’re looking for a grooving duet that is both heart-string-pulling as well as dance-worthy in both vertical and horizontal planes then you need to check out Cooper Phillip’s latest release, ‘Exceptional Feelings’.

Hailing from somewhere in small-town Russia, Cooper made her way to the States in pursuit of a career in music and she has found it, for sure. Of course, she endured her own share of hardships while on the hunt for this career but that is the life of a musician who travels across the world with almost nothing to realize a dream. In terms of musical prowess (never mind the fact that she has a wonderfully dulcet and alluring voice), Cooper has the benefit of singing alongside Chaz Mason who, until the pandemic, was touring with Kanye West…which makes sense why he would open up the track instead of the artist whose track it actually is.

That being said, while Chaz does have a great (albeit nasally) voice, once Cooper hits into the chorus of this hip-rolling R&B track with her sultry voice, it seems obvious that she has indeed realized her dream and has the vocal power to take to the world stage.

To the song specifically, ‘Exceptional Feelings’ is something of a contradictory tune in that both verses speak of being emotionally removed and closed off from love. Of course, while both artists get to sing about their inability to feel, they metaphorically come together on the chorus as they both discover that these feelings have been somewhere within all along. It’s a classic musical move, sure, and there is a standard progression the tune follows as well but…one cannot deny the groove and just how easily one could move to this tune, emotionally closed off or not.
