Ebony Buckle - Susan
I will simply be as honest as I possibly can with this one. Ebony Buckle’s latest single release is all about her imaginary friend/alter-ego, Susan The Raptor. Look, I can’t say all that much. I’m an artist myself and I know I am rather bizarre to others. I just suppose that this is not quite my kind of quirk.
The song is musically wonderful and bright, though. Do not mistake that. Dance around the house or out in the park to this song. It will keep you positive, that’s for sure. I just am still confused by how her alter-ego is also her best friend. I guess that just takes loving one’s self in a whole other direction?
Either way, the artwork promoting this single is whimsically hilarious and so too are the lyrics to the track, ‘Susan’. The track is essentially pondering what it would be like if Buckle and Susan could trade places and what things they would get up to together (and what dinos they’d go out and ravage).
To the music, however, if you were to talk Regina Spektor, Florence & The Machine and Lily Allen into writing a song about their imaginary raptor friend, this is likely what the result would be. And that pretty much sums it up. There is a Meatloaf flavoured piano bit in there, just about, some rather beautiful male harmonies and a kick that doesn’t seem to stop much on this raptor rampage of a song.
If you’re looking for something whimsical, positively and adorably hilarious and just the right sort of upbeat tune to dance and smile the day away to…then definitely check out Ebony Buckle’s latest, ‘Susan’. Give it a listen right HERE!
