Danny Toeman - Give It All Up (Mr. Showtime)
Wow! If you’re looking for something that is a a mix of a little something Broadway and jazz and a whole lot of something Motown and funk, then Danny Toeman is your man, hands down. And he wants you to know, he’d ‘Give It All Up’ for you! Of course, by “you”, I mean the fans and audience members who have given him the energy to carry on in his music career. I’m sure he’d spare something for the rest of you though.
Regardless, Toeman’s latest single ‘Give It All Up’ is a wonderful blast from the past. What I thought was going to be a squeaky stage tune from some overly emotive musical broke past the intro into a solid Motown masterpiece that moved so comfortably and effortlessly from start to finish. The ease with which Toeman drops his many vocal talents is unreal and relentless.
Audiences that Toeman has played for should feel honoured to have this song written about them and for them. Having first hit him when riding a train home from a gig, it’s amazing that a man this talented and so reminiscent of the likes of Marvin Gaye and James Brown has not hit it out of the park as well as he might with a song like this. That being said, there is an album on the way and it’s not as though Toeman has been devoid of success…it’s just not quite the amount I feel he deserves as of yet.
Make sure to check out his latest single right HERE, and I’ll leave you with some beautiful words from the great Danny Toeman himself…“I try and keep my music positive and aspirational, in matters of life and love, no matter how hard the present circumstances. This is the message I have always found at the heart of the music I love”
