Waiting For Smith - Lines of Love

In the current state of the world, it’s not too difficult to think of someone you haven’t been able to see; waiting out pandemic restrictions to be able to hold them again. This latest release by Waiting For Smith entitled ‘Lines of Love’ is a stellar song to ruminate on whilst waiting to see loved ones again. While I’m sure it’s not based around the present isolation many are experiencing, it does fit perfectly.

‘Lines of Love’ is all about overcoming doubt; reminding those we love that we are always there for them and will never give up. Given the solemnity with which the very well-structured and almost conversational lyrics are delivered, the tune is rather upbeat with beautifully vaulted harmonies. There is a magical melange of fantasy and reality between the direct situation wherein the song takes place and the ultimate desire to be together again in the future in a “house down by the sea”.

Beyond a simple song of dispelling doubt, it is one of great aspiration and hope and I think that this is something many need today while they try to find themselves situated in their own versions of what many are calling the “new normal”.

Considering this is just one of only a handful of releases from Waiting For Smith, I must say that I cannot wait to hear what comes next. Hopefully, the next is not a song of hope but a follow-up song of realization. At least…we can all hope for something as uplifting as that. After all, those “Lines of Love, they are strong”.
