Flying Carpets - Best of Luck in Your Future Endeavors

If you’re looking for a new track to keep the pain at bay after working to overcome heartbreak, then we’ve got a song for you! The Argentinian duo, Flying Carpets, has released a new single to precede their upcoming album ‘Flooring & Beds’. The single? ‘Best of Luck in Your Future Endeavors’.

Sure, it’s a little wordy of a title and I did wonder, at first, just how they were going to fit that well in a lyrical structure. It comes across as a little cumbersome. However, they do not disappoint and, by way of simplicity and honesty, have turned out a great new song.

Considering their previous album, ‘Barking Dogs And Motorcars’ (which we reviewed right HERE) was so forlorn; being lost in the mire of breakup and heartache, it makes perfect sense that only one year on, they might still have some reflection at hand.

The simple mix of 90s alt Cal rock, present-day “Indie” and a not-so-subtle lean to country really creates a sweet song of sullen positivity. There is an understanding in this song that whatever love was had is lost and there is an acceptance (of sorts) that love has moved on, even if he hasn’t…but the acknowledgement of that fact of progress is both wonderfully uplifting and simultaneously sorrowful. Anyone who has felt that twinge of sadness when a former love finds someone new knows exactly what this song is about and knows exactly the feelings it conveys. A relatable song is a very successful song, ultimately.

Back to the interesting genre choices here. I mentioned a not-so-subtle lean to country music. Those who haven’t listened to much country may not hear it but all this track would need is some vocal twang and a bit of lap steel and I swear that it would be a full-fledged country song. This goes back to the interesting mixing-in of Americana in Flying Carpets’ music that, on the surface, may seem out of place but, in the listening of it actually fits just right.
