Reflected Waters

Simple sailors, skies of blue,

murky waters below canoe,

sat atop, me and you,

ducks quack, seagulls coo.

Make the shore, bay of sand,

feet in water, outstretched hand,

this paradise; this no man’s land,

nature’s rule, let us stand.

Common cause, friend, not foe,

a ravaging, this I know,

I will stay, until I go,

threaten not, nor reap, nor sew

All we be comes to dust,

life and death, on we must,

sliver of time, grant me trust,

preserve your beauty, in manner just.

You shall fall, not finite be,

though second of time, all we see,

so for a second, your company.

Respect for you, the world for me.

Grain of time, many a day

share us your strength; what winds do say.

Days of mirth, bright and gay,

for none in time shall ever stay.

Dip my paddle, skies are blue,

Reflected waters below canoe.

One in one, me and you,

Pass in time together too.
